Enjoying the Park(s)
Needed relief from the heat.
Yesterday we walked to the library to pick up this week’s movie. It was hot and humid by 9 am. We picked up the DVD, and James checked out Children of Strife, the latest book in the Children of Time series by Adrian Tchaikovsky. On the way home, we stopped at Lawn Service by Big Brother Brewing at LeBauer Park for a respite. Greensboro has a number of parks across the city. Our neighborhood, Fisher Park, is built around one. In fact, many of the oldest neighborhoods in the city are named after a park. Our part of the neighborhood park (it’s bisected by Elm Street) is full of trees and has a small creek with stone bridges to cross it. It feels a little moody to me, which I love. When the weather is cooler, I fully intend to picnic there. LeBauer is a larger, brighter park, one of two downtown. It’s well laid out and includes a lawn for events (e.g., live music, movies, World Cup viewing), a playground with some of the coolest installations, a dog park, and an interactive fountain.
I had a sparkling lemonade; James enjoyed an iced coffee. We found a spot in the shade and were refreshed for our walk home.
